Fr. Agnel Multipurpose School & Jr. College, Ambernath, is the brainchild of late Rev. Fr. Agnelo Noronha. Established on August 15, 2001, with the objective of providing comprehensive education up to the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination, the School is affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board of Education. The foundation stone of the school building was laid on June 24, 2003, by Shri Prakash Paranjpe, Member of Parliament, in the presence of Fr. Bento Rodrigues, Superior, Agnel Ashram Fathers.
The School is run by the Agnel Ashram Fathers, Catholic priests of the Society of St. Francis Xavier, who have dedicated their lives to the service of people regardless of community, caste, or creed. Inspired by the teaching “Love your Neighbour as Yourself”, they remain committed to nation-building through education rooted in the values of patriotism, integrity, secularism, and social responsibility.
The legacy of the Ashram traces back to Rev. Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues (1912–1984), a freedom fighter in the Goa Liberation Struggle, who founded orphanages, technical institutes, and educational centres across Goa, Maharashtra, and Delhi. His vision continues through the Agnel Ashram Fathers, well known across India for their dedication to holistic education and their strong belief in socialism and secularism as the path to national progress.
At Fr. Agnel Multipurpose School & Jr. College, we uphold the principle of “Always Excellence”, woven into every endeavour. Alongside academic excellence, students are encouraged to discover and nurture their talents in music, dance, dramatics, public speaking, arts, handicrafts, and sports. The School also runs Girl Guide and Scout Units, providing opportunities to grow in leadership, teamwork, and service.
In all our activities, the aim remains the same: to foster in every child the qualities of honesty, patriotism, social awareness, and brotherhood, so that they may grow into enlightened citizens—able to make a living, live a meaningful life, and make a difference to India and the world.
